How to disable Direct Messages (DM) in Discord

If you want to disable Direct Messages (DM) in Discord, follow these steps:

For Desktop (Windows/Mac)

Step 1: Log in to Discord

Open the Discord app or go to discord.com on your browser.

Log in to your account if needed.



Step 2: Content & Social

Click on User Settings ⚙️ (bottom left corner).

Go to Content & Social in the left menu.

Step 3: Disable Direct Messages

Scroll down to "Social Permissions."

Toggle off “Allow direct messages from server members.”

• This prevents new DMs from members of servers you join in the future.

Step 1: Open Discord and Log In

Open the Discord app on your phone.

Log in to your account if needed.

Step 2: Go to  Content & Social 

Tap on your profile picture (bottom right corner).
Select  Content & Social.





Step 3: Disable Direct Messages

Scroll down to "Server Settings."

Toggle off “Allow direct messages from server members.”
